On Trend: Food and Drink Experiences

In the UK, we seem to have rediscovered our love of food in recent years. The explosion of food programmes on the TV, the rise of celebrity chefs and the growing number of Michelin starred restaurants has seen us all take more of an interest in what we eat.

This is coupled with a growing interest in our own kitchens and in what we choose to cook at home, with environmental trends emerging for sourcing more locally grown produce and organic ingredients.

It’s no surprise then that the experience retailers have cottoned on to the public’s interest in all things ‘foodie’, by developing comprehensive ranges of incredible food experiences, which are available across the UK.

Many of the food experiences on offer are (in essence) cookery lessons, where you will arrive at a venue with others to be taught a particular style of cuisine by a friendly professional chef. These experience days are fun and sociable (as well as informative) and of course you get to take home everything that you create!

If you opt for this type of experience gift you can choose from a wide variety of experiences, including sushi making classes, chocolate making lessons, Italian cookery masterclasses or an introduction to bread making. There are even cookery experiences for kids!

Some of the other food experience days on offer are very similar. Many classes however, are run by celebrity chefs (such as Anton Mosimann or Jean-Christophe Novelli). These experiences are generally a little more expensive, but certainly more special!
